The Planning Company has an ongoing contract to provide planning and strategy advice to the Wye Valley and Malvern Hills AONBs. This has included making representations on a broad range of planning policy and other strategy consultations, inputting planning advice to the AONB Management Plans and commenting on significant planning applications within the AONB. Colin has represented the AONB Units at a number of consultation meetings.
The contract is operated from the Company’s office in Worcester, making maximum use of computer technology to gain access to planning applications and policy documents electronically. Site visits are made to assess the implications of significant applications on site. This arrangement maximises the efficiency of the use of time as well as minimising the need for travel.
The contract is now in its third year and information is being compiled annually to make an assessment of trends in the types of applications and the outcomes of the responses made by the AONB Units.
Additional work for the AONB Units has included the preparation of a series of guidance notes on microgeneration, including wind turbines, solar energy and ground source heat pumps. |
